Clay Earl -
Marketing & Sales
Clay
graduated from the University of Saskatchewan’s college of
commerce with a major in marketing. Over the next 20 years, he
gained practical experience in various capacities with companies
in the consumer goods and services or pharmaceutical industries.
Throughout this time, he held positions in sales, sales
management, key account management, product management, and
marketing management. The vast majority of Clay’s experience is
with marketing and sales of institutional and specialty products
in the pharmaceutical arena. His disease state background
includes cardiovascular medicine, internal medicine, neurology,
anesthesia, infectious disease, orthopedics, gynecology, and
emergency medicine.
Clay’s practical experience covers all stages of the product
lifecycle, with a strong background in the management of sales
and marketing personnel. He has served on international brand
teams in various capacities and has developed and managed brand
strategies for North American and European markets. Clay’s
medical marketing experience includes experience with phase III
and IV clinical trials, as well as registries. He has also hired
and managed a team of medical liaisons to work in the pre-NOC
period.
Clay has a strong interest in negotiations and has completed the
Negotiations for Senior Management course at Harvard University.
His other areas of business interest include branding, launch
planning, viral marketing and the development and management of
high performing teams. |

Karen Webster - Medical Marketing
Karen Webster graduated from the University of Western Ontario
with a M.Sc. in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Since then,
she has been directly involved in the health research setting,
holding positions within the institutional, pharmaceutical,
and sponsor/supplier environments.
Karen has been responsible for leading a variety of pharmaceutical
medical marketing activities in several therapeutic areas, including infectious disease,
cardiology, respirology, dermatology, obstetrics, neonatology, and endocrinology.
Karen's primary focus throughout her career
has been observational surveillance studies; her previous position was senior director
for surveillance study/registry operations within a company that specialized in
these projects. Karen brings strong experience in the design, development,
and ongoing management of observational surveillance studies, with a focus on
ensuring that the overall strategic and information needs are fully addressed.
Karen developed and managed the Prospective Antifungal Therapy (PATH) Alliance®
,
an observational study of patients diagnosed with invasive fungal infection
in the US and Canada, and FASTRAK, a Canadian observational study focusing on
the management of patients with acute coronary syndrome.
One of Karen's particular interests is
the application of these epidemiological data to scientifically credible,
evidence-based medical marketing initiatives. Throughout her career, Karen has enjoyed,
and excelled at, collaborating with thought leaders and pharmaceutical industry
representatives to generate high quality, clinically relevant communication pieces.

Dr. Susan Elliott - Medical Marketing
Susan has formal training in physiology (PhD in Gastrointestinal Sciences) and
business administration (MBA); since then, she has worked in a variety of scientific
consulting roles supporting the pharmaceutical, diagnostic and device industries.
Susan brings over 10 years direct
involvement with industry and investigator-sponsored clinical research activities.
She has also been responsible for market research, due diligence, the development
of strategic medical communications, and medical marketing. In addition, Susan
brings rich experience in observational surveillance study design, implementation
and leadership. More recently, she has been overseeing corporate development within
the pharmaceutical support marketplace. Susan brings expertise in a variety of
therapeutic areas including gastroenterology, immunology, rheumatology, neuroscience,
endocrinology and infectious disease.

Dr. Jim Cross -
Medical Director
Jim
Cross holds a degree in medicine from the University of
Saskatchewan. He has a number of years of practice in emergency
medicine and hospital administration. Most recently, he served
as the VP of Medicine of the Battlefords Health District. He is
an ACLS instructor and managed Saskatchewan’s air ambulance
service for a number of years. He has been on many national
committees involved in education and communication tools for
physicians. Most recently, he served on the federal pandemic
planning committee. He writes a monthly periodical geared
towards enhancing practical skills of the emergency physician
and is a popular presenter on topics pertaining to a wide
variety of emergency medicine. In addition to emergency
medicine, he has a particular professional interest in
cardiology and infectious disease. |

Ken Hendsbee -
Production & e-Solutions
Ken has
over 12 years IT-related leadership experience building
businesses, relationships in technology, healthcare,
communications, and others. Ken has a background in commercial
art and design. He is an accomplished designer and artist. He
also has a strong background in computer technologies and has
designed and implemented a number of e-solutions for the health
care industry. He has been responsible for design and
implementation of numerous web sites, electronic newspapers,
forums, secure data capture systems and other phase 4 projects.
The highlight phase 4 project of Ken’s career has been the
development of a particular wound management software system (Pixalere).
The project allowed physicians and nurses from all over the
world to securely transmit medical information to other medical
professionals who could aide in diagnosis and treatment
decisions. |

Suzanne E. Welsh -
Nursing
Suzanne’s professional experience with research initially
stemmed from a solid base in staff nursing in many critical care
areas, including Emergency Medicine, Cardiac Critical Care,
Cardiovascular Critical Care and Intensive Critical Care.
Suzanne has assisted several physicians to start new Research
Divisions in their respective fields, including Emergency
Medicine, as well as the Hematology/Blood Borne Pathogens
Surveillance Project in association with Health Canada. She
initiated each project with the creation, design, finalization
and implementation of protocols, lab manuals, Case Report Forms,
Regulatory documentation, as well as all other required
corresponding legal and ethical documentation/requirements. She
was also involved with the recruitment, managing, teaching,
supporting, and coordinating of other multi-national sites.
Suzanne has strong experience maintaining effective
collaborations with the many disciplines contributing to the
success of a project, including primary investigators,
co-investigators, site coordinators, pharmaceutical sponsors,
and ethical review boards. |

Christina Clark -
Medical Writing
Christina Clark Christina has a B.Sc. in Biochemistry and M.Sc.
in Human Biology from the University of Guelph. Her thesis work
involved investigating intracellular signaling pathways and cell
cycle regulation in a human promyelocytic leukemia cell line.
Christina has been
working as a medical writer in pharmaceutical advertising and
CHE for the past five years. She has written several conference
proceedings and summaries, and has contributed to the content
development of educational and advertising materials targeted to
specialist, general practitioner, pharmacist and nursing
audiences.

Jocelyne Hislop -
CME
With over 24 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Jocelyne brings extensive experience as a Continuing Medical Education Coordinator. In this role, she has been responsible for managing the logistics of a wide variety of initiatives including advisory board meetings, train-the-trainer programs, and accredited satellite programs at major conferences. Jocelyne has worked closely with marketing management on programs in cardiology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, neurology, anesthesia, infectious diseases, orthopaedics and gynecology. Throughout her career, she has developed many strong, collaborative relationships with product managers, agencies, and associations/societies, as well as with physicians, nurses and pharmacists.
